The Role of Care & Repair:

The Care and Repair Programme was established by Age Action to carry out minor repairs for older and vulnerable people free of charge.

Purpose of Care & Repair:

Age Action Care and Repair does small DIY jobs for older people to help them maintain their homes and their independence. Care and Repair does jobs that might be more difficult to complete as we get older but not big enough to call in a tradesperson.

Care & Repair is an Age Action programme, and it is delivered by Fingal LEADER Partnership CLG, in partnership with Age Action. The scheme uses TÚS employment scheme participants to go into people’s homes to undertake small jobs. All our staff have been Garda vetted.

Care and Repair can change locks, install smoke, or carbon monoxide alarms, change light bulbs, trim small hedges, remove trip hazards, install handrails, replace toilet seats or move a bed downstairs to make sure the home is safe.

For any job that is too big or specialised for our team Age Action can provide details of local tradespeople.

Typical Jobs We Do:

    • Changing light bulbs
    • Minor decorating
    • Gardening
    • Hanging curtains
    • Installing smoke alarms
    • Minor DIY
